FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Long-Lost L. Frank Baum Stories Resurface After 120 Years—Now Available to Readers Everywhere

Previously unpublished stories by the creator of The Wizard of Oz are now available in a new, beautifully illustrated digital collection called "The Lost Stories of OZ."

A forgotten chapter of American literary history has been rediscovered. The Lost Stories of Oz, a new digital collection from Squeaky Books, brings together fifteen whimsical tales written by L. Frank Baum, the famed author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. These short stories, originally published in 1904 as a newspaper feature and never collected in Baum’s lifetime, are now available to readers for the very first time.

Written to promote Baum’s third Oz novel, Ozma of Oz, the stories follow beloved characters like the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Jack Pumpkinhead, and the Woggle-Bug as they explore the United States—encountering wild animals, beauty doctors, mysterious machines, and even Santa Claus.

“These are classic Baum in every way,” says the team at Squeaky Books. “They’re short, funny, imaginative, and they carry the same warmth and wit that made the Oz books timeless.”

Each story is enhanced by new illustrations inspired by John R. Neill, the legendary artist who illustrated 42 Oz books. By combining archival Neill drawings with new linework, the creators aim to capture the visual magic of early Oz books in a way that feels both faithful and fresh.

The Lost Stories of Oz is now available as a digital collection through Squeaybooks.us. The stories are short—just 3–5 pages each—making them ideal for younger readers, Oz enthusiasts, or anyone curious about a forgotten corner of American literature.
