Where's the Menace?

I'm still hackin' away at trying to find a style of Baum's Animal Fairy Stories.  Some groovy stuff, but not what I'm looking for (where's the menace?):

Maybe that last one (such beautiful line work!)?  But I'm now leaning way away from black and white and Neil, and seeing if there's an option for color.
