What's a poor troll to do when he has a toothache, and everyone's too scared of him to help?
Worse -- it's a magic tooth, and if this tooth were to fall out, the magic would vanish, and every single village in the valley below would grow dry and dusty indeed. The troll likes making sure the humans have plenty of water, and he's worried not only for his tooth, but for the humans. (You see? And here you were, all set to judge the troll for being nasty and terrible. Not all trolls are horrible, as you're beginning to understand. Just most of them.)
